Flat Eric is currently unable to post pictures on his blog due to server problems. This means that the following will be without pictures. He'll uplaod pictures as soon as possible, and soon pictures and a report from MINISTRY OF SOUND will be up as well.
On April 29 Flat Eric went to the Gaucho Tower Bridge restaurant where he had a reservation at 10.30 pm. He ordered his favourite, a 300 g rump steak with chips and bearnaise sauce, and a bottle of Amarone. The waiter was really kind and helpful and within 20 minutes the food was served. The steak was not too good though. It was not really as tender as you would expect a 20 £ steak to be and it had tendons in it. The chips were pail and flaccid. However the sauce was a genuine bearnaise sauce with a lot of taste.
At around 11.15 Flat Eric was out of bearnaise sauce and ordered some more, but instead of sauce the waiter came back with disappointing news: the kitchen was already closed. This was despite the fact that many tables were still occupied. The waiter apologized and seemed geniunly sorry. But still.. The website states that the restaurant closes at 00.00 and since the kitchen is not mentioned, you suppose that the kitchen closes at 00.00 as well. Flat Eric was quite disappointed as you can imagine. However he still offered the waiter tips, but the waiter refused to take it due to the bad service Flat Eric had experienced, which Flat Eric thought was the deed of a true gentleman.
On a scale from 1-5 the restaurant receives 3 for the food and 5 for the service.
